Wondering How To Run An Untethered Jailbreak On IOS 5.0.1?

Well it finally came around, and if you were anything like me then it felt like it took forever! After accidentally updating my iPhone4’s IOS from 4.3.3 (very simple Jailbreak) to the all new and exciting IOS5 I very quickly got bored and somewhat fed up with the IOS5 software and could not wait till the untethered Jailbreak was released. Having tried to downgrade my IOS back to 4.3.3 successfully I then realised that with the IOS5 update it also updates your iPhone’s baseband (not good). So I ended up upgrading back to 5.0.1.

Well thanks to pod2g the untethered IOS 5.0.1 jailbreak is here.

Things you will need to download to computer

Redsn0w (latest version) this is currently redsn0w 0.9.10b3 for OS X (mac OSX) redsn0w 0.9.10b3 for Windows (windows)

Follow these steps

Step 1: Download the latest version of Redsn0w.

Step 2:  Open and start Redsn0w that you just downloaded (on your computer)

Step 3: Select “Jailbreak” then check “Install Cydia”

Step 4: From here you will be asked to make sure your iPhone is both plugged into the computer and switched off before clicking next.

Step 5: Click next and follow the onscreen instructions to place your device into DFU mode (if successful your device will begin the jailbreak)

Step 6: Sit back, be patient and wait for RedSn0w to work its magic.  (apply the untethered ios5 jailbreak)

** if done correctly you will see your device running the jailbreak as seen below.

Your device will reboot once it has completed (be patient and don’t panic!!)  you will then notice ‘Cydia’ has been installed on your springboard.

Congratulations, your device is now fully jailbroken on IOS5.0.1

Bit thanks to pod2g and the Dev-Team for making it all possible.
